Wetlands Project

In November 2007, Environmental Artist Quentin George began the Vale Wetlands Art Day with an informative walk around the Wistful Wetlands site. Community members then worked alongside artist Fiona Gavino to create woven critter sculptures using brightly coloured cane inspired by the insects from the walk. Artist Louise Elscot assisted kids and their parents in creating beautiful ink on wood drawings of local flora. These artworks were later presented at a resident exhibition night and the ink on wood drawings were reproduced and signed by the community members. A small scale sculpture using brass wire was created using the community critter sculptures. This sculpture now hangs in the Vale Sales & Information Centre.
