OPEN BOOK Installation

Amanda Barrett Hayes, AWESOME Arts, Creative Challenge Artists and the bright young things of regional and remote Western Australia

22–29 Nov 214 William Street

OPEN BOOK is a spectacular insight into the lives of bright young things living in regional and remote Western Australia. In 2009, the AWESOME Arts Creative Challenge artists hit the road and visited Exmouth, Mount Magnet, Wiluna, Mullewa, Karratha, Pandanus Park, Kalgoorlie, Jarlmadangah Burru, Leonora, Roebourne as well as one metropolitan residency in Medina. Young people were asked to create their own contemporary version of a book and the outcomes were diverse and wonderful, incorporating film, animation, visual/sculptural arts, sound recording, photography, live performance, shadow puppetry, and storytelling.

The OPEN BOOK Exhibition is an exploration of identity, stories and community and celebrates the cultural and environmental diversity of Western Australia.
