Work and Play
Dave Jones (Victoria) & the Joondalup Community.
In 2008 renowned Australian animation artist Dave Jones spoke to the seniors of Joondalup and documented their stories of how they used to ‘play’ as children. These stories were then told to the young people of Hillarys Pre-Primary School who illustrated the stories they heard. ‘Play’ is a collaborative piece featuring a soundtrack of stories of the old and animated illustrations of the young, creating a beautiful community record.
Punmu Stories
Mat De Koning (Western Australia) and the young people of Punmu.
Punmu Stories is a celebration of the rich cultural and environmental diversity of the Punmu Remote Indigenous Community. Over three two-week residencies in 2008, digital media artist Mat de Koning worked with the young people of the Rawa Community School to create a 30-minute film entirely produced in the community.
The Vale Community Film
Vincent De Rooij (Netherlands) and the Young People from the Vale Community
In the weeks preceding the Festival, Netherlands film artist Vincent De Rooij has been working with families at Vale, in the Swan Valley to create a film about Vale’s community identity and environment. This project is bought to you by AWESOME Arts and Multiplex Living.
