Creative Challenge is AWESOME’s year round program celebrating the bright young things living in regional and remote Western Australia.
Each year, a team of artists present arts projects that encourage young people to consider their individual and collective community identity by exploring their own history, stories and environment. Artists take residence in regional or remote communities as an Artist in Residence and work with a specific group of children over a one or two week period. The program focuses on process-driven workshops, and involves the participants in undertaking research, conceptual development and implementation of an artwork that will communicate the uniqueness of their community. A selection of the works from these residencies will be showcased in the Creative Challenge Exhibition in Perth.
The aim of the Creative Challenge is to celebrate the talents, perceptions and stories of young people in regional and remote Western Australia and to instil a sense of pride, ownership and place within the communities.
If your school or community group would like to know more about the Creative Challenge please contact AWESOME’s Community Cultural Development Manager, Miranda Stephens, on 9328 9666 or email@example.com
