Creative Challenge

All About Creative Challenge

The Creative Challenge is AWESOME’s year round creative program that celebrates the bright young things living in regional and remote Western Australia.

Each year, a team of artists presents a different arts project that encourages young people to consider their individual and collective community identity. Artists take residence in ten regional or remote communities for two weeks to share their knowledge and skills. The program is process-driven, and involves the participants to undertake research, conceptual development and implementation of an artwork that will communicate the uniqueness of their community. Each residency culminates in a celebration where the works created are showcased for the community to enjoy. A selection of the works are then showcased in the Creative Challenge Exhibition at the AWESOME Festival each November in the Perth CBD

The aim of the Creative Challenge is to celebrate the talents, perceptions and stories of young people in regional and remote Western Australia and to instil a sense of pride, ownership and place within the communities.
